The University of Minnesota Libraries grapples with, like all predominantly white institutions, an imbalance in collections regarding race, racism, and intersectional histories of prejudice and liberation. In 2020, after the murder of George Floyd, a committee was charged to investigate amplifying diverse voices and perspectives in all collection areas. One project of the group was the identification and selection of recently published ebooks whose voices and perspectives were missing from the collection. The presenters will speak to the background and goals of the project, selection criteria, data analysis, review processes and results of the projects. The close collaboration with GOBI Library Solutions will be discussed, including GOBI’s help identifying unowned titles, utilization of GOBI’s interdisciplinary subject headings, and the post-project integration into GOBI approval plans and review of plan performances.
